Arthur Wooten was born in Detroit, raised in Andover, MA (just houses down from Jay Leno, no less) and now lives in New York
City.
A gymnast through high school, he continued competition while majoring in Communications and Theatre at the University
of Massachusetts. After college he headed for the Big Apple, pursued a career in acting and is proud to say he made a living
at it. Actually, he had to. No one would hire him as a waiter!
After ten years of singing, dancing, tumbling and one too many bus and trucks of The Sound Of Music, Arthur hung up his
tap shoes and went into holistic health care. He studied with the renown shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi and has had a thriving
private shiatsu practice for the past 21 years.
But the creative bug never left him and he soon discovered a desire and ability to write. His plays Birthday Pie, In A
Heartbeat, The Lunch and Lily have all been produced to critical acclaim in NYC, Los Angeles and regionally.
His first venture into prose was the children's book The Life And Times Of Wise Bear William and On Picking Fruit marks
his debut as a novelist.
Arthur's just finished Fruit Cocktail, the sequel to On Picking Fruit which will be released November 15, 2007 and has
contributed a short story to Alyson's collection, Best Gay Love Stories: New York City - Oct. 2006.
He's also adapted his award winning play, Birthday Pie to novel.
